Whiskey dripped down the wood paneling, and shards of glass scattered across the floor. The music stopped. The women stopped dancing. The men stopped laughing. The room went silent, and everyone turned to look at us. Carson stared at the broken glass, then at me. His expression shifted from surprise to something harder. "What has gotten into you? What brought you into such a bad mood?"

Then, without warning, he lunged toward the window. Glass shattered with a violent crash, splinters flying like daggers as he leapt through the opening and vanished into the night. I stood alone amidst the wreckage, papers fluttering like fallen leaves, the scent of musk and rage thick in the air. ~ The echo of shattering glass still rang in my ears as I stood frozen in the wreckage of the war room. The splinters glittered like shattered dreams beneath my feet, and the bitter scent of anger and fur clung to the cold air.
