I heard the screams and wails of the children and we ran faster. Rhonda, her staff and the children stood huddled in a group on the playground. They were trying to calm the children down. Guards and most of the pack fought the fire with hosepipes and buckets. It was hopeless. “Where in the hell are the firetrucks?” I asked through the mind-link. Joffrey linked back; “The trucks have been sabotaged.” Father mind-linked them to let the buildings burn and secure the estate. He bristled with anger, his blue eyes blazing with the color of lightning.

A wave of heat slammed through my body. Visions flashed: me choking Kael, burning Riven, screaming at Thorne. I screamed back. “No!” Fire erupted from my chest in all directions. The illusions shattered. And the flames bent back toward me. Not to kill. To bow. Second Trial: Passed. I barely had time to breathe before the final test began. The firewall rose ten feet high, then dropped suddenly. The air turned cold. It was so cold I could see my breath. Then, the possessed Elder stepped forward.

The fire was spreading fast. Our attempts to stop it proved to be futile because of the wind. Thanks to Red’s quick action he had managed to get us out of the forest and into town which prevented us from being trapped at the house by the fire. She was lying next to me, whispering to me, crying as she did so. “It’s the strongest and darkest kind of death magic to use,” Jessica said with big eyes. She seemed suddenly afraid and that made Malachi worry even more. None of them, except Bryan, realized that I’d already suffered the consequences of killing with magic.

Her panicked eyes beg him to help while her body is pushed back and forth with the violent thrusts of the monster, which impales her body. "Why does it not work ?" Saren cries desperately, reaching out his arms again towards the carnage. “The fire, kin ! You must catch the fire first !” It sounds from the embers in front of him. Quickly Saren reaches for the embers, and the fire springs again between his hands.
