The silence stretches between us, broken only by the distant sound of shouts and footsteps growing louder. Closer. “Dammit!” Trix finally spits, his voice hoarse with frustration. He turns away from me, pacing a few steps before slamming his fist into the nearest tree. The bark splinters under the force, but it doesn’t make him feel any better. I can tell.
