One True Love
“It was a moment of truth.”
Her heart stumbled.
“But truth doesn’t mean it’s right,” he said, voice shaking.
She felt something inside her crumble.
He took a small step toward her — slow, hesitant — like approaching something fragile.
“Rox… look at me.”
She did.
His voice dropped to a whisper. “If I kiss you again, I won’t be able to stop.”
Her breath caught.
“And if I don’t stop…” he whispered, eyes dark with longing and fear, “…I’ll lose you. Or I’ll lose myself. Or both.”
