It was past nine when April first reached for the remote, looking for something mindless to drown out the quiet of the house since she wasn't working anymore. The television flickered to life, throwing pale light across the living room walls, as everything felt ordinary…the hum of the air conditioning and the smell of her mom’s chamomile tea cooling on the side table with her mom settling beside her ready to be entertained. Then, the ordinary evening ended as the screen cut to a breaking news banner, it was big, red and looked urgent.

I had walked two steps when I did a double take. Grabbing the paper, I stared at the picture of Ryan Waters and April. She was on stage, dressed in a tight black mini-dress. Ryan Waters had his hands around his waist and she was smiling widely at him. In less than a minute, I had shredded the entire newspaper. "Fvck this!" I said, pacing around the room. April was not as innocent as she seemed. Clearly, she used that as a front to attract rich men. Typical of women in the showbiz.

Some group of people passed by almost immediately the figure in the dark had turned on her phone torch to get a glimpse of her, "You seemed to be in a mess." "Oh my goodness! That's is April!" She heard one of the passerby squeal in delight whilst tugging vehemently at her friend and it made April think of the time she Josh had been around. A lone smile etched on her face for a second before it was gone. "Who is April?" The friend of the excited girl asked nonchalantly. "April, that girl that acted in stars and sores...the one who did a cover shoot for vogue.... brand..."
