The young warrior, Emmet, one of the six survivors I found after the battle in the plains, crouches beside me while we watch an enemy encampment from a large, jagged rock on the base of the mountains. Both of us are drenched in blood–most of it belonging to others–and sweat, filth, and dirt from the forest. It’s impossible to keep track of time when the whole forest is under a spell of pure darkness, but I’d guess we’d been out here for days now, watching, waiting to strike. Emmet, a boy of fifteen, had snuck out of his home and joined the cause illegally. Too young to shift, some would have thought he’d been helpless during the battle.

By Tuesday afternoon, Manatee High felt louder than usual. Maybe it was the way everyone buzzed with the kind of energy that meant a break was close. The long weekend was coming, and most people already had plans. Emma didn’t—at least not yet. The bell rang for lunch, and Emma followed the usual crowd to the cafeteria. She spotted Connor sitting at their usual table with Ethan, Liam, and Chelsea. Ethan was talking fast, excitement written all over his face, while Connor laughed at something Chelsea said.

Emily’s hands had instinctively pressed against his chest to steady herself. Their faces were now only inches apart. Emily could feel the warmth of his breath. Her heartbeat suddenly felt louder in her ears. Their eyes met. Something invisible shifted between them. The accidental touch of their lips had awakened something neither of them fully understood. A strange warmth spread through Damien’s chest. Inside him, his wolf stirred violently. She’s our mate. The word echoed through his mind with sudden certainty. At the same moment, Emily felt something unusual ripple through her body. A strange pull she could not explain seemed to draw her closer to him.

I doubt that he if knows my middle name. “You surprised me every time you spoke. Just when I think you can’t talk more nonsense than you did a second before, you prove me wrong saying something utterly rubbish.” He was in awe. I threw a kiss in the air towards him; he didn’t move or flinch as he did during the gala night; I think he was coming to terms with my lovely character. Before leaving Matthew McCoy, my soon-to-be father-in-law announced the wedding takes place one month later. One thing I notice McCoy’s aren’t affectionate at all, all of them are robots, one is different from the other, or functions in a different way, but they are all the same. Expect Lyra, of course.

His pack consisted mostly of werewolves and omegas and a few children and teenagers. "Are you lost?" he asked her gently, as though he wanted to make her comfortable. "I'm looking for my family," Emily told him politely. "My name is Emily." He smiled softly, his greenish blue eyes staring directly into hers. "And I am Zack, Alpha of the North Wind Pack." Emily stared back at him, her curiosity piqued. Derek seemed friendly enough, and she hadn't seen any danger around him or his pack. She was curious about the strange man.

"Oh, I thought he is your mate or Endrich? Are you all partners here? Fascinating but it twists my stomach out of nowhere" "Donna is mine" another guy came. Donna smiled and approach the guy. "You are?" I asked gesturing to him. "Atreyu Windsor alpha of evergreen pack" then he is the other guy yesterday. "Nice to meet you all" was it nice to meet them? I'm glad to know them but seeing them forms a pain inside me that I can't explain. "What's that?" I ask when an eagle landed on Idris's hand with an envelope with it.

"Thank you. I don't want us to be upset with each other tonight. So let's have a good time." "Yes, let's all have a good time," Emma says as she walks up beside me. I grab her and start walking outside. I hear Levi and Luca both laugh as we take off. The atmosphere outside is lively and a significant change from the hall. Everyone is talking and laughing. It is nice to see even if we are going to war with a witch tomorrow. Emma leads us to the bar and gets us a drink. Mine is a fruity mix drink that matches hers. The guys grab a beer, and we all smile as we take our first sip.

“It’s strange seeing you prance around like a smiling ballerina. What’s going on and why are you so happy? I almost thought it’s the start of the apocalypse.” I chuckle at her joke. “Well, if you must know… My boy Emmett just shifted. And I was there to guide him.” Heather snaps into attention, and I see a glimmer of a smile appearing on her lips. “Well, that’s just wonderful! He seems… quite young for such a feat though, I have to admit.” I shrug. “Well, he is part white wolf, it happens to them. He’s black and white, though, and he’s perfect. Everything about it is perfect.”

“I have a plane to catch. I only wanted to explain my side of the story to Simone before I left.” “Mira” Emmett says, giving her a smile. “I’m not going to say I was happy to see you. Thank you for coming to explain” he adds, speaking in the English accent he had as Caitlyn’s jaw gapes open at hearing Emmett’s accent for the first time. “That’s the Emmett I know” she smiles before walking out the doorway. “You have an English accent?” Caitlyn gasps, staring over at Emmett. “Damn girl; you should be glad he hid that from the world. He would have been snapped up before you even got a look at him.”
