he asks stepping forward to get a better look at my face, I back up and with finding my lighter in the driver's seat, I light up a smoke and exhale to the right of me away from him. "It's alright. Nothing," I backed up another step from him as he stepped forward to touch me. Taking the hint he drops his hand and stays where he is. "I'm Jason, Jason Austin." He holds his hand out for me to shake. I take it carefully and shake his hand. "I'm Marrallyn Wheaton, nice to meet you." Boy, this guy yummy. "How old are you?"

He leaned back into his swivel chair and regarded the hooded figure with those full grey eyes — pale and luminous, catching the candlelight like twin moons suspended in the dark. "Promised I'd get answers before seeing you," the figure returned, his voice a low baritone. "And I did." "And skipped last night's supper doing it?" Jebediah's tone carried easy amusement. "You work way too hard, Emmett. Ease off before you work yourself into an early grave." Emmett pulled back his hood, revealing a face carved by discipline. He navigated the darkness without hesitation, the way wolves always did, and settled into a chair beyond the candle's reach, his posture relaxed but precise.

Kallum's jaw twitched. "Emmett. That's his name." Pulling out a big loose black shirt and panty briefs, I let the towel drop, reveling in the sharp intake of breath coming from them. I could feel their eyes trace over my figure and their possessive instincts stirring. "He's a good man," I said, trying to choose my words carefully. "Emmett is a vampire, and I met him at the bar last night."

Emmett picked up his fiancée, Amanda, from her office because they are going to attend his mother's birthday party, back at their hometown, which is in Walnut Creek. It's going to be a four-hour-drive from the big city, so that's why they need to be early to avoid the evening rush traffic. Four hours passes by quickly, and now they are making their way inside the Albreicht family huge estate... After a few minutes, Emmett finally parked his car and steps out from the vehicle. He went towards the passenger's seat side and opened the door for Amanda.

I step in closer to Emmett and lower my voice, “I’ve already found her.” The shock on Emmett’s face is golden, but he quickly looks around and realizes why I spoke softly. “Why is this a secret?” He whispers. “Isn’t it good news?” “It’s complicated, but the short answer is that she’s a human and she doesn’t know anything about werewolves or mates yet.” I didn’t think Emmett’s face could look more surprised, but then he proved me wrong. I thought we were going to have to pick his jaw up off the floor.

“No . . . It can’t . . . It looks . . . it looks just like . . . A wheeze hissed out between the dead man’s jaws. As they parted, an unnaturally long, black tongue slipped out and scraped the floor, dragging the head toward Emmett like a snail lugging its shell. The foul stench of corpses rose from its grinning mouth, a fresh gust rising to Emmett’s nose each time the tongue slapped the boards. He took a step back, his left hand clenching the table leg just below the right. Lifting the club with a scream, Emmett swung the weapon with enough force that the burnt skull shattered on the first blow. Emmett stood there, panting, weeping. He was still trying to catch his breath when the next gasp

For a moment I thought he had died of a heart attack with how still he was being. "He wants me?" He asked, a broken part of him coming out in his voice. "Yes, Emerson. He wants you. Apparently your given name is Emmet." "Emmet." He repeated. Tally took his hand, flashing him a big grin. "Big bad wolf has a big soft heart." She poked him in the chest teasingly, causing Emerson to give her a small smile.

“Your mercy precedes us, Alpha King Sven.” “Good,” King Sven says, yanking my head up by the hair, forcing me to look up at him. “Here's your product, Gwendolyn, Emmett. Do you perhaps want to test her before taking her along with you?” Lord Emmett is the first to step out. He is ancient. I've heard he's over a thousand years old. He stands opposite me, his predatory eyes rakes over my body. I hold his gaze, staring into his crimson red eyes to show that I'm not a pushover.

The red car was gone, driven away by Leo. “Miss,” a voice called from behind her. Tara froze, her heart skipping a beat. The voice sounded familiar. She turned and saw a man with sandy blond hair and sharp features, clearly of mixed heritage. He looked to be in his thirties, with deep-set eyes and a prominent nose. His appearance was decent enough, but his gaze carried an unsettling mix of slyness and malice that made her uncomfortable. He extended his hand. “I'm Wesley Lima from Genovia.”

Claire didn’t hesitate. She wrapped her arms around him just as fiercely. She could feel his heart pounding under her cheek. Wild. Unsteady. Human. She pressed a kiss to the hollow of his throat, feeling the way his muscles tensed—and then slowly, slowly, relaxed. Neither of them spoke. They didn’t need words. Not anymore. The storm was coming.
