For vampires we know around thirteen sometimes it’s a bit late coming close to fifteen. Witches and fires shift around seventeen and angels shift sometime between sixteen and eighteen. You still have time. Until your eighteen. Your just not a normal Shifter. You still may be human but you could still be a dark angel. If your special you could be a white angel but there hasn’t been one for hundreds of years so it’s very unlikely.”

The band shivered, loosened… then split in two and tried to climb both legs at once. Enough. Talia set the baby back into the crib for half a heartbeat—safer there than in her arms if she had to fight. Window. Now, Kaela pressed. "We shouldn’t shift," Talia thought. The healer’s warning was loud in her head. No shifting for two days, or you’ll bleed inside. Better than burning, Kaela snapped. Decide. Talia decided. The shift slammed down her spine like a breaker. Bones ran hot, then cold. The world snapped wide. Her wolf—ginger, massive, muscles coiling—filled the corner of the room.

It shines with a thousand lights to fight the darkness, a life that embraces the land of the dead. A smile graces my lips as suddenly the collective dissipates, flying almost at lightning speed to all the edges of the glades. I can see the Shifters becoming visibly brighter, as if they themselves had received a breath of life. Very slowly, they begin to disappear, fading into the depths of the trees.

I feel terrified. I don’t know what is happening. “I know, nieta. I have a feeling they are trying to shift.” Abuelo said. “SHIFT?! They were just born!” Austin said and it’s clear he is worried too. ‘Nyx? Help me out. Do you know anything?’ ‘Not a thing. Though, Shadow Maws shift earlier that regular wolves and Aiden is an Alpha. Maybe that could be why this is happening?’ Nyx said and I heard the worry in her voice.

The largest paw print I have ever seen was in the middle, surrounded by tiny paw prints. My mate gasped as she crawled off my lap and brushed her fingers over the largest print. “Daddy.” A new wave of grief surfaced but no tears fell this time. Instead, she smiled. “I remember. I think.” She looked at me proudly. “We made this...during my shifting party.” She pointed to the smallest print which was directly beside her father’s. “This was me.” A shifting party was the werewolf equivalent of a sweet sixteen party; it was thrown after a pup’s first shift. It signified the Moon Goddess smiling upon the pup and in turn the pup becoming one with the pack.

The old man had written about everything, rare mutations, moon cycles, even wolf psychosis, but nothing about early shifts ending well. “Damn it,” I muttered, tossing one book aside and grabbing another. “This cannot happen to him.” The next scroll I unrolled was fragile, the ink had already faded into brown lines. It described how premature shifting could rip a young wolf’s spirit from balance, how the body might not align with the wolf’s energy yet. That misalignment could lead to weakness, loss of control, or worse, death during a full moon ceremony. I rubbed my temples hard, fighting the pounding headache that had been building all day.

Theron's POV The day of the event was finally here. This is the day I officially put Twilight on the map. Another success to celebrate. Many of my past lovers have been calling nonstop to accompany me to the event but I turned them all down. I don't want any drama tonight so I decided to just go alone.
