They kept whispering to each other when they thought she wasn’t looking, and Gideon kept showing up at odd times with papers for them to sign. “What are you two planning?” she asked over breakfast. “Nothing,” they said in unison, which was definitely a lie. “We’re just handling pack business,” Zade added. “Very important pack business,” Zarek confirmed.

“Twins.” He barely looks in their direction “Yeah, don’t worry about them.” From the corner of my eye, I see the twins shift into identical grey-blue wolves. They launch themselves at Adrian, but within a fraction of a second he shifts and a just before they fall on him, his massive claws rip through their chests, leaving large gashes behind. Blood explodes from the wounds and they sag to the ground, their ragged breathing, and the scent of their blood spoiling the clean night air. “Are…they…dying?” I struggle out the words.
