I responded: Are you offering to have me change you mind huh Ad? She read it and immediately responded: I never said so, but what's your offer? Oh so she was asking for a bride indirectly. I typed a response: What's your take? I smiled as soon as I saw the emoji she queued up in her text: I want chocolates. Lots of it. I really didn't mind getting them for her. I responded: Done. Oh, send your bank details. She responded: Why?

His fingers moved across the screen, slower this time, reviewing the sections Adrian had pointed out. "I want you to work on what he corrected," he said, matter-of-fact. I nodded once. "Alright." He tapped the screen lightly. "Your foundation is strong. It just needs refinement, especially the positioning angle and the campaign structure." "I’ll fix it tonight," I said. "Good," he replied. "Let’s make sure the next version leaves no room for criticism." He handed the tablet back to me before leaving. The rest of the afternoon blurred into edits, notes, and me fixing the parts of the proposal a certain cold-eyed CEO had decided to tear apart.

" I added. His eyes shot up to mine at my words. I flashed him with a wide smile and a wink. "Let me have the result I gave to you," He said and I handed it to him. "Do not change all. Leave some the way it is and only tweak a few." I watched as he retyped the result in his computer but this time, he tweaked some of the results to show that they were not fine. "I hope this is satisfactory," he said as he handed me the new result.

“So, how’s the construction going?” “It’s going. We ran into a couple issues with the support beams. They were just too old and they looked good on the outside but they had been nearly hollowed out with rot on the inside.” Wrinkling my nose, I shook my head. “How much did that put us back?” “A few thousand. Just for the new beams and the delays.”

"Barely." ​"It’s 4:59, sir," I replied, stepping forward and placing the silver flash drive on the polished mahogany surface. "The edit is complete." ​Luke finally looked up. His eyes were sharp, scanning me with a clinical detachment that made me want to shrink. He reached for the drive, his fingers brushing against mine for a fleeting second. I felt a jolt—a phantom spark of the connection we once had—but his expression didn't change. He plugged the drive into his computer, the silence in the room stretching until it felt suffocating.
