Callum’s drive home is uneventful. He knows all the shortcuts and backways that can cut his usual 30-minute drive down to a 20-minute one, and he keeps his music loud so he can ignore anything that isn’t the motorway in front of him, and he soon finds himself in his stupidly posh neighborhood, putting in his security code at the gate before he pulls up to his stupidly posh home. He sits in his car for a moment. It idles—engine silent—before he shuts the music off now that he’s back in a neighborhood where people will call the police over noise pollution. He lingers. I forgot which of the two roads leads to the house. I curse none stop because it was getting dark and I was still in the middle of the road and unfortunately I could not see any passing vehicles or people. What the woman said earlier also bothered me so I could do nothing but continue walking. I chose the right one because that’s pretty familiar to me. My keypad signal has no bar so I can't call Gello. Wild Cami screamed into the wind. We took a side road out of town and started winding through tree-lined hills. The sun was going down, making the scenery even lovelier. The fresh air blew across my face. No streetlights, but the headlamp from the bike lit up the street as the sunlight faded. I molded the front of my body to Van's back as he took the corners. It scared the crap out of me, but the exhilaration was intoxicating. He drove for about fifteen more minutes before turning onto what looked like a private drive. He rounded a corner and a huge two-story home lit up by outside lighting appeared out of the dark. Conservative Cami, hiding in the back corner of my mind, got nervous.

I see the shadow of someone else in the truck as well. The boy goes up and hugs his mother, they turn around and look at the front of their new house. Which is weird to me because it’s still the Williams house to me. The mother waves for the shadow in the truck to get out and come look with them. I see the door open and expect another son to get out but when I see who gets out, I think I forget how to breathe.
