Darkbound Mate
The ache in my head dulls to a low thrum, but the weight in my chest remains, heavy and unmoving.
I exhale heavily, lowering my head as I press my thumbs into my temples. The pressure doesn’t do much for the pounding in my skull, but it’s better than doing nothing. I breathe in deeply, hold it for a moment, then let it out in a slow, controlled exhale. Again. And again. I need to calm down. To get Fenrir’s words out of my head before they tear me apart. But no matter how steady my breaths are, the throbbing pain doesn’t stop. It’s relentless, like a nail being driven into my brain.
