Tanya clenched her teeth before proclaiming, “Everything I have today was earned through blood and sweat! It’s got nothing to do with you or Arianne! Stop imagining yourself as some noble saint, could you? Every chore at home since we lived together was done by me — always! And you… You enjoy all of my services like it’s your birthright! If you’re feeling it, you throw me a bone. If you feel like sh*t, you won’t even look me in the eye! Aren’t we supposed to be friends? Then why do you always make me feel like I’m the sore thumb sticking out, that I’m being ousted? I never belong. I’m just an ugly duckling whenever I’m with you people. None of you care about how I feel! And I am sick of it!”

I hated being wrong and hated apologizing and due to my penchant for being right always, it was easy to see my flaws and easy to call myself out of my rubbish. “ I know I fucked up and I'm incredibly sorry” I looked up at her to see her staring at me. Kelsi had not yet said a word and I was beginning to get worried. The wind blew in our direction and it ruffled her hair in her face. She didn’t do anything to remove it and I itched to do so but I wasn’t sure whether we were still good. I swallowed and kept talking. “Yes I agree with everything you said about me,” I said quietly. “I am the most ungrateful person in the universe and I don’t deserve all the good things in—“

She worried that Frank would catch her anxiety through her face. “Show me what you take away. I have to make sure that you don't secretly steal important documents.” Kara snorted in disbelief. The corners of her lips twitched in disgust. She turned around with a cynical look. “Instead of sorry or thank you, you are making accusations?” Frank shrugged lightly. "Sorry is only said by selfish people. They use it to escape from guilt or because they are afraid of not getting any more benefits from the recipient of the apology. Meanwhile, thank you ...."

She would have thought so, until she remembered just how much the woman had changed within a week. "You ungrateful witch!" She yelled, making Gemma want to pick her ears. She had heard that word for so long that it was no longer an insult, but just a random word to her. "Of course not." She drawled with a chuckle. "I'm grateful for everything you did for me." They had taken everything for granted and made her give up on everything she valued for their son. They had ruined her very life. There was a lot to be grateful for. "Don't worry. I'm going to show my gratitude right away."

"You lied to me! You liar! You have two parents who love you, a real family, and everything handed to you your whole life. Why have you always been so determined to make mine miserable?" In the past, hearing that would have broken my heart, but it only made me sick. Some people were born ungrateful, and no matter how well they were treated, it would never be enough. Vera screamed, "You think that match makes you untouchable? I don't need a match to make your life a living hell!" She quickly tapped on her phone. Then a group of men in black suits rushed in from outside the door, led by the mercenary, Vulture.

It is one thing that people overlook. Something about gratitude warms the soul. When you put yourself on the line and stretch yourself and tear yourself apart and go the extra mile for a person, sometimes, all you need is a little appreciation, even if in mere words, to know that your sacrifice has not gone unseen. But when they walk away as though you owed it to them, without a single word of thanks, regret sets in. Ingratitude really does hurt. And it hurt me too as I watched the trio run off.

If David did not take it from him, he would keep on kneeling on the ground and would not stand up. David looked at Utopia, who was kneeling not far away from him. He could not help but let out a sigh. David had always subconsciously believed a saying. A good-hearted person was a grateful person. The honest Buckeranians were like that. He wondered how the Grim family could have done that to them. However, families like the Grim family who would get their way, by hook or by crook, for the sake of their interests did not have any sympathy for others.
