Canyon Ridge was once a mining town until its mine was shut down decades ago. The tunnels were marked by numbers and I was guessing it was in order that they were mined out. The last tunnel on the map was tunnel eighty-nine and it was the deepest of the tunnels that were dug. It made me wonder if the miners had stumbled upon something because it was also close to the Witch’s lair that Damon had sent me too. Pointing to tunnel number eighty-nine, I say, “I think we go here first.”

The passage sloped downward, the air growing cooler and damper as we descended. "This leads to the old river caves," Maison explained in a hushed voice. "They run beneath most of the territory. This made it a good hiding place. “I have explored the second tunnel, it is longer and leads to the other side of the mountain.” Ryan said as they strolled hand in hand through the first tunnel. According to Ryan, the cave was buried deep in the mountain and has three entrances. He had explored the first one, which was the tunnel that led him to the cave in the first place, and had waited, so he could explore the second and third tunnel with Megan. It would be more fun, as the things they got to do together as a couple were quite few.
