He turned sharply towards one of the staff, his tone dropping into a demanding register.
"Has everyone arrived?"
The girl looked down at her digital tablet, her fingers frantically tapping against the screen as she checked the entry logs. She swallowed hard, looking up with a visibly nervous expression.
"No, sir. We are still missing one of the finalists. One person has still not cleared the security checkpoint”.
The director’s frown deepened, a flash of severe irritation crossing his features, bringing him to the very verge of getting openly angry. In an event of this magnitude, waiting, tardiness was an unforgivable insult to the committee.
