How are you? My name is Lukas.'

I drafted a new email, pouring everything into it, the vision for Cristainternational and then I sent it. A moment later, a notification popped up. Message not delivered.

Hey. The message sent. I ended the night without a response.

It was brutal, yet beautiful under the sun. When he saw me, he placed the newspaper down and pointed to the seat opposite him. "Come have a seat." He showed me a document. "These are route maps and contact codes for the cargo. I hate this flowery underworld slang. You translate." Even if he was testing me, he did it openly. I picked up the document and scanned through it professionally, taking notes with a pencil. Ten minutes later, I handed him the corrected proposal. "The third port contact is wrong. That code format is from ten years ago. Nobody in Cecile Island uses it anymore. This is a trap."

I looked at him and he nodded. "Wonderful. Paul?" I said and smiled. Although I didn't ask, I was sure he got every command, that was power. "Understood, Ma'am," The Manager replied, bowing slightly. "Alright then. I had an,... eventful evening. Gentlemen? Ladies?" I said to the audience that never stopped watching before leaving the restaurant. This was going to make the news tomorrow. "Fiona Katherine Winchester breaks up with Sebastian Prime over spilt wine. Most coveted Female Billionaire is once again single."

The pack waited with bated breath, and Ethan couldn't help but won der if this surprise visitor was a sign of good news or bad news.

You can just continue with your work. ‘Okay, right away.’ He replied but before I could cut the mind-link, Amos chimed in, ‘Would you mind telling me what happened?’ ‘Reben was here.’ I didn't hesitate but disclosed the news to him and he went quiet. By his silence, I already knew that he was as shocked as me. ‘What? After all those years?’ ‘Yes, he has appeared from nowhere asking me about that offer we didn't seal that day.’ I explained to him and he sighed in our mind-link.

He looked at the message for a long time. I wondered how long it would take. Seven words. No punctuation at the end. No exclamation mark, no question mark, nothing that softened or inflected or indicated how she meant it. Just the words themselves sitting on his screen with the patient weight of something that had been waiting fifteen years to be said and had finally found its moment. He put the phone down. Picked it up. Put it down again. He had sent the email. He had typed it and deleted it and typed it again and then sent it before he could talk himself out of it and now she had responded in under four hours with seven words that told him nothing and everything simultaneously.

Did she just call me their Luna? A sick feeling twisted in my stomach. No. That couldn’t be right. I wasn’t one of them. I wasn’t meant to be here. I swallowed hard, my throat dry and raw. “I’m not your Luna,” I rasped, forcing the words out. The old woman’s sharp gaze flicked over me with something between pity and disapproval. “That’s not for you to decide, child.” Her words sent a cold shiver down my spine. Before I could protest again, she sighed and moved toward a side door, pushing it open. “The bath is warm. You stink of sweat and filth. Wash yourself before the Alpha returns.”
