The lie would start falling apart. So I walked to the café three blocks from campus. It wasn’t a pack place, just a cozy little fusion café with warm lights, polished wooden tables, and the best hot chocolate I’d ever tasted. They served everyone there — shifters and vampires. I knew Valentine's day was a big deal especially among shifters, but I didn't expect this small non-pack café was packed too. Almost every table full — mostly shifter couples sharing plates, splitting desserts, laughing at each other's phones. Heart-shaped paper cutouts taped to the windows. A playlist of slow songs I didn't recognize playing through the ceiling speakers.

The image of those blood thirsty vampires downstairs appeared through Nina's eyes and caused shivers to run down her spine "My lady,the King has organized a blood feast!" "What?" Nina blinked "What's a blood feast?!" she had never heard of that before. However she could tell that it wasn't something good. Jenna hesitated "It's a very dangerous event,my lady.Kings only organize such when they have gathered enough slaves from neighbouring kingdoms!" Nina remembered the young girl Mateo was forcing himself on.A gasp immediately escaped her lips

Despite the strangeness of the situation, Melia found herself finding his astonishment rather amusing. "Vampire..." he murmured, his gaze shifting towards Melia. "Perfect!" he exclaimed, throwing his arms up in a rare moment of elation. "It explains everything. It explains why you're still here, alive. Why... Or maybe... How do you become a vampire?" he asked abruptly, his curiosity getting the best of him. Melia arched an eyebrow and crossed her arms. "I'm not going to tell you that," she replied firmly, her voice as cool as a winter breeze.

He put his hands up, “I’m sorry Amanda! It wasn’t a threat. Now stop dissing my dislike of coffee.” Amanda growled but retreated grumbling about incompetence. I sipped my coffee with a grin on my face, “Well, looks like we’re gonna have a fun day.” “It’s not my fault she practically insulted the moon goddess with whom she was given for a mate,” he threw his hands up. He was definitely taking this more seriously than it was intended. “I mean coffee is weird and vampires don’t normally eat or drink mortal foods. We survive off blood.” I shrugged, “It’s whatever. I practically live off coffee.”

She asked if there was anything I needed, and while I shook my head, Victor nodded with a wink, but I dragged him out of there before he could even do anything with her. Now we’re sitting in a cafe next to the bank where Soph works, waiting for her, with Victor yawning as though he’s been sitting here for hours when it’s only been five minutes. The cafe is small and dainty, with a flower theme that’ll rival a flower shop. There are even live butterflies, flapping their beautiful wings and landing on flowers as visually appealing as they are. I can’t help but think the theme is the main reason why Victor has a problem being here.

The music blasted through the living room and everyone enjoyed the music, including me, of course. Every once in a while, I would check up on the boys, making sure that they were having enough drinks. I want them all to get wasted tonight, including Alex, which was the only way for me to sneak inside his office room. "Do vampires even get drunk?" I asked Elena, who laughed before nodding, her dance moves already getting sloppy. "Special wine darling! There was only two kind of people who knew about our existence, the vampires and witches, but we never got across to one another, we all just stayed within our boundaries , we don't meet them, they don't meet us. It's been seven failed job attempts so far in one day, and I don't have any cash on me at this point which makes things even more complicated. There are few vampires here with their pale skin and dark eye circles selling them out. They're five in number, three boys and two girls dressed in all black like rock stars, but they seem to be monitoring everything going on in the cafe, perhaps looking for a human who they'd feast on later.

His limbs were ripped from their sockets, torn apart piece by piece. “Ah,” I let out a sharp gasp watching the gruesome sight and then realizing it was no different from what Rowan wanted to do. This scene would be a ghastly feast for any vampire, a sight that was capable of satisfying their darkest and most depraved desires - blood. And yet, this was exactly the kind of slaughter that Rowan had been craving. “Are you alright?” Alpha Axel asked me suddenly, his eyes scanning my face. “Y-yes. I am,” came my reply, with an affirmative nod.

I noticed a small couch in a corner and took a seat on it. "Do you always watch me every night?" She suddenly asked me breaking the silence. "Since you got attacked," I confirmed and she nodded. "You're quite calm for someone who just learned that completely fictional characters actually exist," I pointed out. I've noticed ever since I told her that I was a vampire she kept a calm expression as if she's been told the exact same thing her whole life. "I really don't know either. I just feel this weird sense of belonging." That's probably the effect of the sacred book on her. She's the chosen one so she'd naturally feel attached to our species without even knowing.
