The boat slipped quietly across the water, the Eiffel Tower starting to twinkle in the distance. Dinner was magic—truffle pasta, champagne bubbles, toasted guffaws. Eliana sat on his shoulder, as if she'd leaped onto the pages of her own romance novel. "This isn't real," she breathed. "No," Damian breathed, brushing her hair back from her face. "This is us." When the gondola floated under an arched stone bridge, Damian rose from his seat. Eliana's eyes flew open. "What are you doing?" He extended his hand. "Dance with me."

Elena bit her lip. Before she could overthink, she pushed through the crowd. She walked straight to him. Grabbed his hand. His eyes flicked to her, amused. “Changed your mind, nun girl?” he teased. Elena smirked. “Shut up and dance.” He chuckled. But he let her pull him to the dance floor. And when they started dancing? Oh God. He danced. Like a devil. Smooth. Confident. Effortless. Then his mouth was on hers. It was supposed to be nothing. A brief, polite lie for the cameras. But Damian kissed like a man who didn’t believe in half measures.
