"Love," Daylen got back on his feet beaming with new hope. "That's all I need to stop Syvan from ever endangering anyone," he added with confidence. The elder leaned her head to the side. Love has always defeated most evil in the past but she doubted that it would work on Syvan. Vampires weren't the easiest creatures to love. It was in their nature to kill and destroy and she doubted Syvan could be influenced to be different with love.

Something she could only imagine existed in books and movies. A pair of red eyes and two long fangs that stuck out of the mouth as though they were always meant to be there. Except there was no blood dripping from his mouth as always described in books. Yet, she was still scared senseless at the sight of a living, vampire right in front of her eyes. He moved closer to her again but this time, she was prepared and understood what he was. She lunged on her feet in fright and prepared to flee. But she had barely moved two steps when that figure appeared in front of her again.

She looked at him the most. "What could I possibly do now?" He asked. "The shades will try to find your weaknesses. Something tells me you will try to help the female lady and her brother and if the shades are hiding behind the shadows, watching you they will believe you are interested in making her your mate." Rayven stiffened. Mate? He did not want to think of Skender sinking his teeth into Angelica's neck and bonding with her forever. He did also not want to think of Angelica being chased by the shades because they wanted to kill a demon's mate. A human mate was a demon's weakness.

She whispered, running her fingers up my arm. " I can't." " You can." She whispered and kissed me. She held my arms and wrapped it around her waist. " Lydia, stop." " She won't come back." After a vampire must have gotten a mate and performed the “FAADF” which I think is the human equivalent to a wedding, they are bound to their mate for all eternity unless, of course, a bound mate dies. Vampires do not have divorces, but the truth is that it is often very difficult to find a bound mate which means that by the time you find one, you are already weary and tired that you would do anything to cement your union. Take me now as an example, I will be roughly two hundred years old on the first day of winter this year, which is roughly in two months, but I have no bond mate.
