Vermont Snowstorm Novels & Stories

Blaine usually went out with a group of five to go hunting to bring the max amount of food back, however today him and the missus got into a big fight, so he left by himself. I watched as he traveled to the east end of the forest. It had the most game over here, most days we had rabbit, some good days we’d eat deer, elk, and buck. Allison helped by bringing some chickens, so we aren’t short on much. I sat 200 yards back, and watched through my scope. My 308 was my best. I never missed a shot with it. I watched as he sat still waiting for the doe to cross his sights one more time.

As the first snowflake settled, it whispered secrets of a winter tale waiting to unfold. First snowfalls usually come lightly to Sequim. The snow is soft as it glides down towards the cold earth. This year, however, it came in a blizzard. Snow dropped like an anvil, with ice forming instantaneously along the roads and trails. The wind blew so hard that the forest wolf patrol on duty had to seek shelter. They couldn’t see two feet before them, even with their werewolf eyesight. Thinking no one would be out in this storm, they hunkered down in the small town, warming themselves by their fires and watching movies to pass the time. They didn’t expect a young witch secretly making her way through

“You two are dramatic. It’s just snow.” “Just snow?!” Jonah and I scream at the same time. Cal raises both hands, grinning. “Okay, okay, it’s a lot of snow. Like, ‘we’re not leaving for a week’ kind of snow.” I freeze mid-hop. “Wait. What?” Jonah spins around so fast he almost eats the floor. “Define ‘week,’ Calvin.” Cal shrugs out of his jacket, totally casual, like he didn’t just drop a bomb. “Forecast says the pass is closed until further notice. Blizzard warning till Wednesday. Maybe longer.”

"He made those clay dolls for me—one for him and one for me. We'd never be apart." She slowly closed her eyes, and blood stained my shirt collar. "Nathalie... if only I weren't such a fool." Her eyes shut, and her hands slipped from my neck. Then, there was only silence. All that was left in the howling snowstorm was the sound of my crying. … After the snowstorm passed, I made my way down the mountain alone, rushing straight to Riverton City. I got there just as Chester's engagement party was starting. Right when Chester was about to slip the ring on Rose's finger, I burst into the room. "Chester, Janet has passed away, and she sent me to give you a wedding present!"

she asked with a smile. “Never better.” He said as he kissed her gently. “now let’s get home so we can move on to the next stage.” “I think that is the plan.” Deanna said as she looked at him, “Whatever comes next is going to be fine as we move on.” “The next part is the main part of the storm. We are just close to the eye wall.” Max said as he shut the door to the van and walked around. As he did Deanna thought to herself, they will just have to break the eye wall themselves.

Victor’s tactical execution during this watch stood in absolute defiance of every professional protocol he had maintained since joining the pack! The snowfall intensified into a violent whiteout by the watch Collins emerged from Victor's apartment complex. His snow-crawler was already buried beneath a massive, dense mantle of fresh powder. He used to experience a deep adoration for the winter snow. If his mind weren't currently consumed by this terrifying logistical crisis, his wolf would likely be initiating a leisurely run through the drifts or constructing a snow fortress like a juvenile pup. However, as the freezing flakes impacted his face at this watch, the single sensation his nerve e

And another. Within seconds, the air is thick with a rapid, swirling flurry of white. The first winter storm has officially broken over the mountains. Panic immediately flares in the eyes of the new arrivals who are still huddled outside. They know exactly what snow means in the wilds. It means frozen extremities, starved prey, and death. Several of them scramble backward, clutching their meagre belongings to their chests. I step forward, drawing myself up to my full height, throwing my voice over the rising howl of the wind.

Corrine was hovering beside her like she might collapse from the cold at any second. Just as the servants finished taking the bags in, I slowly moved closer as we were about entering the resort. At the same time one of the guard approached Damian. Being that I was merely a few feet away from him now, I could perfectly hear everything they were saying. “Alpha, there's an emergency.” His words immediately drew everyone's attention to him. Everly and Corrine were now staring at him. “The weather forecast shows that a rare blizzard will hit the mountain in two days,” he reported.

“Luna, I know you’ve been in a meeting, so I’m sure you haven’t heard the news.” “News? No. What’s happened?” “The forecast changed.” Steve sets his jaw. “It was only supposed to be three to six inches of snow, but they’re calling for more, as of half an hour ago.” “How many inches of snow are they predicting?” My heart sinks. “Thirty to forty, more in areas prone to drifts.” Steve laces his fingers on his lap. “We are removing it as fast as we can on pack territory, but the state has closed sections of highway between the airport and here. That doesn’t include smaller roads that are maintained by the counties. They’re calling it the largest spring storm in history.”

Her dark hair was coiled tight under a grey wool beanie, her canvas jacket dark with moisture around the hem. The weather on the ridge had broken at noon. A sudden, unseasonable warm front—a February chinook blowing up the Hudson Valley—had pushed the temperature from twenty-eight degrees to nearly fifty in under three hours. Above them, the thick snowpack on the upper meadow was melting at a terrifying speed, turning the frozen topsoil into a torrent of grey slush that was racing straight down the incline toward the unsealed foundation of the new shed.
