Victorian Gothic

` It was a cool, breezy and stormy night. Rain came down in sheets, as a dark figure stood before a house. The house was pretty ordinary, white with blue shutters; it didn't have more than two bedrooms. It looked like a cozy little family home with flowers and shrubs lining the front lawn, and then the smell from the pellet stove smoke invaded his nostrils. He took a deep breath and pulled out an old, rusted compass from his black trench coat. It looked like it could have been from the 14th century, the small, brass disc was dented and the Victorian designs were faded. He studied it as it pointed east, towards the small house. He looked the house over carefully, looking for the best entrance, before proceeding towards the side to gaze into the window. Inside you can see the small kitchen; the brand new, all black appliances off set the linoleum floor. Cabinets filled almost every wall of the small space that made it look more crowded than it should have been. The kitchen opened to a larger room which seemed to be used as a living room and a dining room all at once. The whole house looked crowded, with the furniture in the living room all touching except for a small gap to walk through and the dining room was so close to the sofa, it could have been sitting on it. He stepped back into the shadows as he watched a young couple enter the kitchen. The wife was tall and slender, had strawberry blond hair formed around her face accenting her jaw-line and her deep blue eyes stopped your heart as you got lost in them. Her fair complexion was silky and complimented her soft face.

So there I was, stuck in this dark Victorian mansion for a whole freaking century, thinking I'd never get out. Then, out of nowhere, these two gorgeous girls swoop in and rescue me! I couldn't believe it, and we instantly hit it off. They showed me a whole new world I'd only ever imagined, and I was all about living a normal human life.   But just when I thought things were looking up, this vampire named Vivaldi pops up out of thin air, grinning like a possessed Jack-o'-lantern. I mean, a name like Vivaldi is bound to give you the creeps, right? He claimed I had some ancient first blood running through my veins and demanded that I sign some crazy blood contract with him—the kind of deal that comes with some seriously freaky consequences.   Vivaldi was trying to sell me the idea that this blood contract was his only lifeline, the only way to save his skin from something worse than death. But I wasn't some clueless newborn vamp; I knew better than to just dive into something as serious as a blood contract. Those things come with some heavy consequences, and I wasn't about to sign up for that without a second thought.   The problem was, if I didn't go along with his messed-up plan, he promised to make my friends' lives a living hell—the very people I'd started to care about. I was trapped between a rock and a hard place. If I decided to team up with Vivaldi, I'd be keeping him around, which is far from ideal. But if I refused, my friends and the whole town of Shadowvale would be in serious danger.    It felt like I was caught in this impossible situation, like I was trying to choose between two rotten apples.

Ginny is your typical gothic kid trying NOT to fit in with any group. You love her or you hate her, she couldn't care less. She only remembers growing up in a pack in the woods, she doesn't remember her life before then. After her pack is rescued by Luna, Maggie Dark Storm, who adopts her, Ginny's life takes a new turn. She is now the daughter and a member of the richest and most respected pack in the city. All she wants is to live her life and mate with Leo, her long time crush. But Maggie wants Ginny to finish senior year. She sends her to a prestigious high school under the guard of the most annoying guard in the Dark Storm pack, Noah. Noah thinks Ginny is a spoiled brat who expects the world to bow to her desires and Ginny does little to prove him wrong. They always get off on the wrong foot and are thrown in each other's faces because Noah takes his job as bodyguard seriously. Strange things begin to happen in school and everyone becomes suspicious. Soon everyone is suspicious but Ginny is determined to find the killer and as she does she discovers some secret truths. Even more surprising she realizes there's more to Noah and her feelings for him. She doesn't hate him, she is actually falling for handsome gloomy bodyguard. Will he love her and save her from the dark spiral of her life? End of story? No I don't think so. The web gets even thicker. What about her life before the pack? What dark memories are hiding there waiting to turn her life upside down? And would she keep those memories from destroying everything she knows now? Or will she give in to the dark side?
