Elaine looked like she wanted to argue, but she stopped herself, her eyes shifting toward the corner of the small room. “Where is that wolf-fur wrap I was curing for you? I wanted you to have it before the frost.”
“You said it caught the rot and you had to burn it, Mom. Remember?”
Elaine looked slightly flustered, smoothing down her tunic. “Right... the rot. My mind is slipping with the fever. I’ll gather more pelts once the hunting season opens.”
