A tall, lanky waiter sauntered out from the kitchen to clear and wipe the table.
“You're sure you'll like just lemonade, Lana?” Abel asked me. I nodded, drumming my fingers silently against my thighs.
He turned to the waiter. “Get me a cappuccino, and one of those fish rolls over there if they're fresh.”
“Yes, they are. Baked just this morning,” the waiter rolled his eyes, his tone clipped, unfriendly.
