Before I can reach for the door handle, the wood explodes inward as Alvin bursts into the room, his jacket completely soaked with rain, his face pale and covered in a layer of cold sweat. He is breathing so hard he can barely form his words, his hands shaking as he grabs the edge of my desk to steady himself. "Alpha, you need to come right now," Alvin gasps, his voice cracking with a level of pure panic I have never heard from my Gamma before. "It’s Enid. She’s dying."

"I'm feeling much better," I said. "Let's continue then." On the big screen, Alvin, his body mangled, was tossed beside me. Austin walked to the door with his men, his laugh cold and bloodthirsty. His stiffened frame silently heard the water rapidly running making him sigh heavily, he knew his wife was once again trying to find solace in the lonely cage she had trapped herself for the last two days. It had been two days Alvin died, the fall crushed his brain and he died on the spot, as expected his death was declared a drug overdosed which became the headlines of only a day. Nora shut the door behind her and started to walk away without looking back, her eyes heavy with tears. Alvin watched her from the car. He couldn't move—his legs wouldn't let him. He hadn't felt this hurt when Amanda had said those same heart-wrenching words to him—it didn't even hurt him at all. But now, looking at the woman who was walking slowly into the estate, he realised the feelings he had for her. Alvin felt his eyes sting and he suddenly held the steering wheel with the intention of going to his secondary residence to drink himself to death—he couldn't stand going to his primary residence because it would remind him of their time there.

The others sped off not bothering to check on their injured partner. Alvin immediately stopped his car the moment he was close to the guy. He hurriedly stepped out of the car and walked to the fallen man before he could even think of escaping again. Without a word, he gave him a hard kick across his stomach before he effortlessly pulled him up, taking off his helmet and dragging him to the car. _____ "Sis! You're back early. How was work today?" Clara cheerfully asked as she walked down the stairs, sipping from a juice can.

Kayla Alvin is not waking up. My wolf keeps licking his face but he won’t even open his eyes. His heart has started beating even slower than before. I shift to my human form then I place his head on my thighs. Alvin hurriedly walked up to me and whispered in my ear, "Found them. It's an abandoned factory." His words were a cruel reminder, telling me what I had lost. I slowly lifted my head and looked at Alvin, my voice trembling as I said, "It's over. Tabitha's dead."

Because, now, it felt more like claws peeling layers of my skin back instead of the reprieve it was meant to be. After Tania's magical alarm had gone off, rogues filed out of the woods with their lips curled back and crazed eyes darting from left to right. Sam and Quade immediately shredded through their clothes and lost themselves in the battle. Tania gripped my wrist and, within a flash of darkness, I stumbled into the vampires' room as they observed the furor incited below with longing. "I can't leave Sylvain," Tania had said as she tracked her mate's movements with concern, "I can help him."
