She asked loudly, waiting for him specifically to answer. War sighed, hating how all of this was turning out. His wolf just wanted to grab their mate and go but unfortunately, it was just not that easy. Not to mention she was upset. With nothing else to do, I spent the day reading a book on my phone but got bored and ended up playing different video games, or—more accurately—getting my ass handed to me in a game called ‘Warzone Legion Xr’. A hyper-realistic shooting game that puts players into an underground warzone where criminals, assassins, and mercenaries fight for their freedom, using everything from different weapons and strategic sabotage, very Antonio-like. I kept losing to a player called WadeSlasher, and somewhere between our eighth or ninth match, I discovered, each loss cost me three thousand dollars.

Lyra was having a good time, although there weren't many women in the group, and that made many of the male rebels try to conquer Lyra. She simply rejected them politely and then continued to celebrate, which made her feel safe. In the midst of the celebration, in the forest, a rebel kept running, wanting to reach the base as quickly as possible. She nodded slightly before peering deeper into the store. " There's an arcade game at that corner over there. Want to play?" " Uh... Sure. " " You have a penny?" " A few coins." We walked over to the arcade and she slotted a coin into it and soon the arcade popped to the life. It was just a regular game, nothing fancy, but she looked good at it. " You know how to play?" I asked.

I was not the first; I would likely not be the last. The only thing that came to my mind was what I also needed the kid for: access to the person at his side. He wanted the boy to be a bridge. To me. So did I. To him. My computer beeped. I rushed out of the bathroom. Didn’t bother to dry off. I stood before the screen, dripping wet, naked, as the image I had been sent opened up automatically. And there was one cut near his eyebrow that looked like it hadn't even healed yet. My stomach twisted painfully. God, I'd done that. Or at least part of it.
