Lyra, Rowan, and Darius raced to the eastern walls just as the sky turned black.
Not with storms.
But with wings.
Hundreds of them.
Ravens. Blood-bound and glyph-marked, summoned by dark priestcraft.
Each carried a payload — small, sharp spheres.
“They’re not birds,” Rowan muttered. “They’re bombs.”
The ravens descended.
Explosions rocked the valley, shaking the foundations of the stronghold. The wolves howled in terror and fury, diving for cover as magical fire tore through the eastern flank.
Lyra stood firm at the gate, raising her hand. Her mark blazed, and a shimmering silver shield erupted in a dome over the inner camp.
