I was hoping to catch someone screaming like a girl. I could record it and watch it on gloomy days so I wouldn’t feel miserable here.” “You feel miserable?” Kate asked, concerned.

My heart locked up. “Go!” I roared to the warriors at my side. They fanned out instantly, joining the fight. I leapt the last few steps, landing between Kate and the wolf lunging for her. My claws ripped across its throat before it even realized I was there. It crumpled at my feet. “Inside! Secure the Luna!” I barked at Celia, who was already pulling Kate behind the line of warriors forming a wall. But Kate’s eyes burned at me, furious. “I’m not running!”

I sensed the slow breaths of the warriors as they all watched with tension. "You really want to do this?" I whispered to him one last time, my claws shooting out. "Come on!!" he roared, and with a swift and sudden movement, he struck. His claws swiped through the air with deadly speed and precision. I dodged to the side,my claws raised in counter attack. The fight was on. We clashed, our claws reflecting the light from the moon. Blow after blow made our claws to ring out. The warriors watched with utter silence, their eyes never shutting. Their face was an expected mask excitement and anticipation.

The general shouted. The Warriors, despite their fatigue, responded in unison. Augmented with Cayla’s magic, arrows flew through the air, swords drawn, and every ounce of strength poured into the fight. But the creature was a juggernaut, its massive fists swatting away anything that came near. Its claws raked through the air, and the ground seemed to shake beneath its movements.

Then he saw the rust colored fur and the gleaming teeth of the werecat. 'Impossible,' Gelok thought, his eyes widening. 'She can't be . . .' Red had flesh in her teeth, blood on her tongue and punishment on her mind. She had forgotten what it was like . . . the difference between a fight and a war. A fight is a clumsy thing, reserved for back alleys by people with lead pipes and pistols. A battle . . . that was where warriors shone. Battles were chaotic, but there was a serenity about them. Battles were where what you did mattered . . . it was where wars were won.

They waneted to see bloodshed and I was sure we wouldn't disappoint. I saw looks exchanged by the male cats. What the hell was it about a chick fight that made boys act so silly? "Hand to hand tonight....no weapons, no spells....just basic combat." This was going to be a long night.
