His fingers brushed the cloth, tugging it down just enough to reveal the full shape of the Mark. The symbol glowed faintly, as if responding to his attention. A spiral of intersecting lines and curves, wrong and beautiful, like something that would make you sick if you stared too long. He stared. The room held its breath. “What does it mean?” one of the men asked behind him. The leader didn’t answer. Instead, very slowly, he reached out and pressed the pad of his thumb lightly against the Mark. Pain tore through me. I gasped, the sound ripped from my lungs as heat exploded across my skin, radiating out from his touch like a shockwave. The symbol burned brighter, the lines pulsing red beneath

In short time, my warriors were winning, brutally tearing the attackers apart. Mark, on the other hand, watched from the door as his ambush failed while he transformed into his reddish-brown alpha wolf and leaped over the perimeter wall alongside Logan, fleeing cowardly with the money while his men died to cover his retreat. I wanted to go after him. I wanted to feel his bones break under my boots. But Ivy was still on the ground, trembling with pain from the rupture of the bond. I made sure the perimeter was clear. My men had slaughtered almost everyone; only one remained alive, one of Mark’s warriors who was trying to crawl toward the exit with a shattered leg.

The transition was so sudden it made my stomach drop. "There was another gray wolf I fought with," Rhaziel said, his voice cold. "He wasn't a rogue. He was a trained soldier. And he was wearing a mark. A very strange mark I never expected to see after so many years.” "A mark? Like a tattoo?" "A brand," he corrected. All of it was on me now. I took a deep breath, my chest tightening again. "This is... forever, right? I mean, this mark. Is it for your pack only or..." He shook his head before I could finish. "No, it’s not just for us. It’s a warrior’s mark. Wolves from other packs have them too. Every warrior does." I exhaled slowly, feeling a small bit of relief. Of course, it was something all warriors shared. That’s why the symbol seemed so familiar. But still, as I stared at the design, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was more than just a tattoo.
