I saw marking, the same one he got when he defeated Azrael, covering his left shoulder. They looked stunning, and like some big unit, all dressed the same way except the big marking that was the same on Marcus' left shoulder and Azrael's too, marking them both as their higher-ranked wolves of the White Moon's warriors. Azrael walked towards Marcus, standing by his side, saying, “We are ready, Alpha.” Marcus took one last look at them all, turning around, taking my hand in his as he started to lead us all outside the same way we got inside.

Rowan sighed. “Fantastic.” A young warrior suddenly ran into the courtyard. “Alpha!” Kael turned instantly. “What is it?” The warrior bowed his head quickly. “The scouts found something near the cliff.” Marcus frowned. “What kind of something?” The warrior swallowed nervously. “A symbol.” Theron’s eyes sharpened immediately. “What symbol?” The warrior hesitated. Then he spoke quietly. “The mark of the Crimson Moon.” A few minutes later, the group stood near the broken cliff. One of the scouts pointed toward the stone wall.

My once-vibrant green eyes had faded into something dull—like sage left out in the sun too long. The fire in me felt like it was flickering out. I undressed fully, slowly, deliberately, my arms lifting over my head as I peeled away the last layers. That’s when I saw it again—the mark. That dark, metallic black symbol on my inner bicep. The mark that came to me in that dream beside Darius’ grave. The warrior’s mark. The Moon’s mark. Her warrior. I stared at it, traced the edges of it with my fingertips. It still hummed softly, like it held something ancient. Something more than even I understood.

Marcel roars again, and the moment he does, his men charge forward. Mark throws himself between them and me, blocking the first few strikes. “Mark, stop this!” Marcel growls. Mark doesn’t stop. He strikes without hesitation. “No! I won’t let you hurt her!” he shouts as he twists behind one of the warriors and snaps his neck with brutal force. My breathing is shallow, my ribs burning. But I start limping forward again, dragging one leg behind the other. Every step feels like I’m dragging a mountain with me. My body’s shaking so badly, it’s a miracle I’m still upright.

It looked almost like a rudimentary sign, a rune, representing a flame. The sign formed a vortex that gradually expanded, the lines rose upwards and formed a flame. The man chuckled and shook his head slightly. "She's not there to save you this time, dog," said the aggressive man. Barclay swirled the axe again before releasing the locked arm. "I will console myself knowing that when he catches you, he will tear you to pieces and your screams will reach my death sleep," the warrior declared, shrugging his shoulders.

He hollered a few meters from the rest, and all heads snapped to his direction. Walking swiftly towards him, Alex and Caine got to him at the same time. The warrior pointed to one of the kidnappers lying dead on the ground. Caine walled the closet to the body and crouched to inspect it. His eyes widened when he caught sight of a particular symbol–the mark was that od every special warrior in the Diamond Shadow pack. It was a faint werewolf eye with diamond for its iris. "What is it?" Alex inquired "It's a symbol. It's given to every special warrior of the Diamond Shadow pack alongside the pack symbol. It's here on his back," Caine explained.

Mark cursed when a warrior got on the hood of our car. Mark hit the brakes, the warrior fell forward. Mark immediately pressed the gas pedal to hit the warrior. “What are you doing, Mark. You can kill him!” I screamed. “I’ll punish him before we leave here,” Mark replied coldly. “Are you crazy?” I was at odds with him. “Look, he’s after us. Whether you agree or not. I’m going to punish him for daring to stop me from going out.” Mark is ignoring me. The warrior’s body bounced across the street. The warrior shifts into his human body and gasps. Mark reached out and gave him his middle finger.

A place reserved for ceremonial like this. The warriors formed a loose circle around me as we stopped. One of them stepped forward, holding something wrapped in cloth. My father spoke. “Today,” he said, “you are not just our future Alpha.” My eyes stayed on him. “You are one of us.” The cloth was unwrapped, revealing heated metal, and it was glowing faintly. My jaw tightened slightly. I knew what this was, of course, I did. Every warrior carried it. It was the mark, the crest. A symbol of the pack that every warrior including my father, beared on their skin.
