“I ran in to stop them, but they were more prepared than me, so they overpowered me.” The warriors looked at each other, but most of them still had doubt burning in their eyes. One stepped forward and grabbed my collar. “You’re lying! You planned this!” “Enough,” Kyler growled, eyes flashing. “Step back.” “But Alpha—!” “I said enough!” Reluctantly, the warrior let go of me, shoving me backward. Kyler stepped closer again, now inches from my face. “Can you recognize any of the strangers?” I nodded, wiping blood from my lip. “Yes. One of them had a mark. A deep scar shaped like a crescent moon on his forehead. I remember it clearly.”

I reached my hand out to run my fingers over the wolf’s canines. “The phoenix symbolises rebirth, don’t ask why, I just always had this image in my head so I got it. The wolf- well I guess it’s self-explanatory, I got this one when I became a warrior.” He explained and I admired his openness. “I’m Sophia Hastings.” I stuck my hand out to him with a smile. “Marcel Miller, warrior of the Dark forest pack.” He boasted, his chest puffing up with pride. “Are you here for the warrior games?” I asked, feeling excited.

She is giving instructions to the new Warrior Chief she appointed, and Mathew notices their trainings are a bit more intense than usual, as though the Alpha is expecting to be involved in a battle with another pack or something. Marcus, Mathew notices, has joined the warriors as well. Great for him. After the humiliation he has gone through of having the highest position in the pack taken away from him, being a warrior is a wise choice. I suddenly did not even want to imagine a life without both of them. My body slowed, having reached the boarder. I was sure it was an hour or so but it felt like nothing. I still wanted to run, still wanted to feel the adrenaline course through me but that was my stop, as far as I could take them. The first wolf came bolting out and when it saw near me he rushed even faster, second place was not really a win. I smiled, it groaning as it tore past me, jumping out of the territory. More and more wolves passed with Stern the seventh. He circled around me before standing before me, his side pressing on my legs. More and more wolves ran out, the warriors seen by a mark of the crown on their side.

Deep, jagged marks ran across his left cheek and neck—the kind of scars that came from serious combat. “Let me through!” he shouted hoarsely, shoving aside other pack members. “I have something to say about Mason’s guards!” The crowd parted reluctantly, allowing the scarred warrior to reach the front row. He raised his arms above his head, clutching a manila folder thick with documents. “Mason’s elite guards!” he yelled, his voice loud despite the noise. “They’re not pack members! They’re mercenaries bought from the border black market!” A shocked silence fell over the immediate area around him, though shouting continued from other parts of the hall.

I lifted the arm and had to keep my face blank as I recognized the markings that lined the skin. The markings that signified this man was a member of my father's secret warriors. "Interesting markings, wouldn't you say?" Ada's dad asked in a low voice. I struggled to keep my face neutral, pretending to look more closely at the marks that I already knew by heart. "Definitely," I said slowly. "What do you think they mean?" He was quiet for just a moment before asking, "Did the rogues that attacked you when you came to the Western Pack have these same marks on them?"

He was built like a warrior and had an unfamiliar face but the tattoo drawn on his neck gave him away. It was a wolf with two swords drawn across like an X. That was the mark given to all of the Alpha's warriors in Silvershroud Pack, A.K.A Liam's pack. My face creased into a frown as the realization dawned on me. I stepped out of my hiding spot when he got closer and lunge at him immediately. Despite being attacked all of a sudden, he still had his warrior tactics and was able to dodge immediately but he was stupid to think I would stop at one attack.

It was then that Marek stepped forward. Marek was a towering figure of muscle and menace, a wolf of immense strength and ruthless skill. His presence alone was enough to draw nervous glances from every corner of the room. His black hair was tied back, his sharp features accentuated by the harsh glow of the torches. Scars lined his arms and neck, trophies of battles past, and his golden eyes gleamed with feral confidence.

Cassie didn't blink. She was in the upper tower, hard-clenched fists. They weren't here to take land. They weren't here to take dominance. They were here for her. And she knew it. Mark swept the field like a storm. Silver armor hung off his body, a long sword with runes burning in his hand. His wolf wasn't even hidden under his skin, lips curled into a perpetual snarl. No Red Claw warrior would approach him. At his left, Lark walked with a creepy serenity.

I pushed the thought aside and walked out of my room. As I open the door to my room, I am met with the sight of my three warriors standing outside, garbed in warrior attire. The first warrior, Markus, is a tall, muscular man with a chiseled jaw and piercing blue eyes. His hair is shaved close to his scalp, with a small amount of stubble on his chin. He carries himself with a sense of authority, and I know he will be a valuable asset on this mission. The second warrior, Jaxon, is shorter and stockier than Markus, with a thick beard and a scar above his right eyebrow. He has a more rugged appearance, but his eyes hold a fierce determination that I know will be useful in battle.
