~Hunter’s Point of View~ I was enjoying my nice, quiet day off soaking in my huge tub. It had been a long week and my brothers and I rotated being on active duty and on call. I was aching for my week off. They were few and far between anymore since it seemed like everyday someone else was being a menace, being difficult. My brothers and I were Shadow Warriors, a coalition of various supernatural beings that keep the peace between each other and between our own kind. It’s a damn hard job, but someone has to do it.

Leo called his top men from the Moonlight Warriors to help us, while leaving the second in command to train the rest of the warriors. We all rode to the river and parked at the small shed where most of the warriors get their clothing after running with their wolf. “Alpha,” a warrior I didn’t know greeted. “Anything new?” Leo asked, and the warrior shook his head. “Still the same Alpha, and the perimeter is safe,” he answered, and Leo nodded. “Are you guys ready?” Leo asked, and everyone else gave their nod. Leo turned to face me and said, “Lead the way, my Luna.”

"Well, you already did. I don't need you to say anything anymore.c I said and turned, walking out with my delta as though I had never stepped in. Leaving and going back to my chamber, I had to deal with the oppressive silence broken only by the rustle of leaves underfoot and the frantic beating of my heart. Later the next day, I moved towards the border of the black pool pack, behind me was a line of determined-looking warriors moving with the same silent and driven purpose, their eyes filled with a fierce determination born from worry and fear. They were my warriors, the elite warriors of the black pool Pack, and they were on a mission: to find Leila like we had discussed and trained.

What… what was happening? Before I could ask, another warrior approached carrying a black cloak. Unlike mine… this one bore the silver crescent emblem of Silver Moon Pack stitched across the shoulder. The head warrior gestured, and the warriors immediately released me. My knees buckled, and I collapsed onto the ground. The head warrior tossed the cloak toward me. "Wear it." I stared at him in confusion. "You have one hour." His voice was cold. "Leave Silver Moon territory before then. If you're found here after that..."

"And the pack's fortune?" "I've already started," Lila sat up, her eyes glinting with greed. "I'll slowly drain his pack's resources and transfer them to your accounts. When the time is right, I'll use my position on the council to convince the other elders to support a 'merger' between our packs." A merger? She wanted our pack to be absorbed by the Ironclaws? "You're a genius, baby," Marcus kissed her forehead. "My father will be very pleased. When I become Alpha, you'll be our pack's Luna."

"Kill her! I order you all!" The warriors exchanged a fierce glance, their silent understanding clear in the air. Finally, one of them stepped forward and planted itself firmly behind me. "At last, a leader has arrived! We hereby proclaim Luna Daphne, along with Alpha Calle of the Blood Moon Pack!" Their voices boomed in unison, echoing through the valley in a wave of determination.

Below them, a sea of subordinates stood in suffocating silence. “The Wild Cat Crew has faced an influx of threats,” Armani’s voice sliced through the room like a blade. “And we do not tolerate weakness.” In the back of the hall, Riley leaned toward Skylar, her voice a jagged whisper. “Wait—this ‘crew’ is actually called the Wild Cats?” “Keep your voice down,” Skylar hissed, her eyes darting nervously. “And yes. It’s an honor.” Riley let out a sharp, mocking scoff. “An honor? It’s pathetic. It’s lame.”

They looked around thinking that more wolves have come and that was their mistake as their curiosity felt them vulnerable to Luka and his warriors. “Keep an eye on our Luna.” That was the last thing JP said before running down the small mountain and shifting. Luka saw his beta’s wolf coming his way, and he smirked. While they were still fighting black smoke appeared on the caves behind them.

Leo’s voice came over the internal comms, small and sharp. "The bad men are at the gate. I can smell the sulfur. Papa says it’s time to be a shield." Phoenix gripped the edge of the desk, her hazel eyes turning into shards of lethal gold. "Get your bag, Leo," she commanded, her voice an absolute decree of war.
