I jerked off when the other military wagon behind us is currently shooting those people with a body of a dead. I wanted to scream loudly but instead, I felt the impulses of vomiting surging from my stomach. Gross to think, but I badly needed to eject and puke this out in my mouth after noticing some people walking with an enormous crater in their womb, and others are surely having a great time screwing their eyes out. Oh, fuck! "People who got saturated with the rain earlier will become like that. We called them walkers and they're already undead. Zombies, they say. And if you got bitten by them, foresee that you'll gonna be one of them in less than an hour."

The horizon was a jagged smear of charcoal gray and bruised violet. For three years, I had walked toward it, guided by nothing but the rumors whispered in the hushed, terrified voices of dying scavengers. They spoke of a place that held the line, a fortress of humanity amidst the rotting sprawl of the walking dead. They called it "Haven."

Daphne’s POV Zachary and I walked hand in hand, with me mostly leaning on him. It had been two days of nonstop walking. We had tried renting a car earlier but almost got arrested by the owner, a werewolf who recognized me and immediately contacted his pack Alpha. Zachary sensed his plan quickly, and we left before they arrived. That had been a lucky escape. “I am so tired,” Nika muttered. “We’ve been walking for hours. At this point, death will catch up with us before the werewolves.”

If zombies exist then I’m probably one of them. Blank mind and walking like a crazy dude, that’s me right now. I’m now here somewhere in our city walking, not minding the people around me. It’s not because I don’t give a damn about them, it’s because my brain can’t handle some shits anymore.

Her soul, wherever it lingered would doubtlessly be unimpressed by the need for death and flesh. Their condition did not go unnoticed by Ash or Marie and a slight ray of hope emerged from the growing darkness that surrounded them. "They'll fall apart getting in," Marie said quietly "or even if they don't, they aren't the rabid Walking Dead monsters." The connoisseur of zombie films and programmes, she knew what she was talking about. "My bet is that they'll follow," Ash answered glumly "that thing isn't stupid, more's the pity. He wouldn't be a God if he was."

Devin sighed and gave me a pity look. “He’ll come around.” He assured me. “In the meantime, it’s a beautiful day and the sun is up. You wanna go for a walk?” he asked and shrugged his shoulders like it was no big deal, only if he knew what he just did. He just invited a vampire for a walk, in the sun. Good thing I’m a day lighter. “Sure.” I said and stood up from the chair I was seated. “So, what do you wanna talk about?” He asked swinging his arms beside him while staring at my face making me a little more uncomfortable than I already am.

It was surrounded by those 'walkers', stumbling around like they were in a trance. "What are they?" He breathed out, staring in disbelief. He chugged some water, letting out a sigh of hydrated relief. "They call them walkers." She pointed the screen down slightly to allow him to see easier and switched to the website she was reading. "There's information on them, finally." As Adam read, she watched his expression change from confused to terrified. "This is like an actual zombie movie." He spluttered, barely able to get his words out. Behind them, a stirring caught their attention.

Walking on all four was such a bizarre feeling. "It's weird at first. Just take one step at a time." Pete is now next to me. His deep brown and black wolf stares at me as he speaks to me through our mind link. I nod to him, shaking out before taking another step. It was like learning to walk again. After a few more wobbly steps, I started to get the hang of it. Lora nuzzled against me. Her sandy blonde wolf nudging me as she spoke through the mindlink.

The world should end on a Monday. There’s something honest about that. Brutal, yes, but clean. A Monday already has the emotional texture of damp socks and unpaid bills, so adding zombies feels less like a cosmic betrayal and more like management escalating a complaint. Unfortunately, the world chooses Thursday at 6:17 p.m., while Maya Rodriguez is standing barefoot in her kitchen, trying to decide whether expired sour cream is a negotiable concept. “It smells fine,” Dex says from behind her.

The smell of blood still clung to my skin, even though none of it was mine. Nobody spoke. Not even hoodie guy, who up until now seemed incapable of shutting up. We were just a group of survivors walking through the fog like ghosts, too shell-shocked to breathe too loud. I counted four of us left. Out of about ten. Ten people got on that bus, and now—only four. A gate appeared ahead of us, tall and rusted, half-bent like something had rammed into it before. Beyond it was a faint light blinking but steady. My pulse quickened. It looked almost… safe.
