He was strong, and there was no resisting, even if I could. As we moved through the door, I turned back and stared in wide-eyed horror. The walls were dripping with red. Marcy, Damon, Murphy, Dr. Alma, and Ian were sprawled out on the floor. Their eyes were empty as blood pooled beneath them. A scream built in my chest, but it wouldn’t come out. The world fell from beneath me as I tried to understand, to process what was going on, that they were all dead. Pain in my arm brought my attention back to the man who just last night was a dream come true. Now he seemed to be a thing made of nightmares.

"The Luna is dead." The room froze. Silence spread like frost. Adelaide blinked. What? "What did you just say?" The Alpha's voice cracked breaking the silence. The guards exchanged glances, uncertain who would dare explain. "Did you not hear me?" the Alpha roared. Adelaide flinched, instinctively backing into the wall. The Luna? Dead? That couldn't be right. She didn't write that. In the book, the Luna was the female lead and existed till the last chapter. So what the hell was happening here?

I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. There was an audible pause on the other end, the silence stretching out between us "Yes, Rima. He's dead, very dead. His body, along with the men who died at that warehouse, were all burned to ashes in that place" he said slowly, his words deliberate. "And no one survived, right? None of his men managed to get away?" I pressed, desperation creeping into my voice. There was another pause, one that seemed to last an eternity. Dread coiled in the pit of my stomach, a venomous snake ready to strike.

The blame rests entirely upon my actions. His arms tightened around me. Against my hair he murmured the words, "No, it’s not." My attempts to halt the progression proved futile. The sensation of it taking place reached my awareness. That spiraling sensation. The oppressive burden suffocates and compresses. The event extended beyond her mere passing. This event marked his demise as well. The memories returned with relentless force, sweeping through my consciousness as an unyielding tidal surge. An additional firearm discharge occurred. Another friend gone. A lifeless body rests at my feet.

His hands didn't even pause as he continued rummaging through the trash. The smell of rotting waste made Addison gag, but she forced herself to keep going. "My family is rich. Whatever amount you want, we can pay. Just name your price." Finally, he stopped. His voice was low and hoarse. "My Joanna is dead." Addison softened her tone. "I'm sorry about what happened to her. Really, I am. But... she was sick. Pancreatic cancer—even without the accident, she didn't have much time left. I was just helping her end her suffering a little sooner. Come to think of it, I helped her."

It was a bleak evening on the 14th of June. The air was cold and caliginous, almost as if it could suspect the misery and gloom that lingered over the Jacobs. It was a sombre affair that evening for all of them.

With the last bit of my strength, I lifted my head, desperate to see William one more time. But in the end, I couldn’t. Darkness swallowed me whole. I died alone on a night no one would remember. Later, an ambulance took my body to the hospital. I hovered above as a ghost, watching Mike desperately try to save me, only to collapse in defeat, sobbing on the ground. "Thank you, Mike," I whispered, but he couldn't hear me. Then, he reached into my pocket, pulled out my phone, and glanced at it before dialing a number from his own.

I shouted with all my might. "I'm sorry, treasure, but I'm afraid that's impossible." some of the men told me. "What are you going to do? Please take everything ... I'll give you everything but let us go." I was dying of fear. I didn't know what was coming. They were laughing. Apparently it was funny for them that I was praying for our lives. "Treasure, your man owes us so much moee than just money and he will pay with his life," said one of the men.
