She crossed her arms over her chest and looked at me intensely. "There's a very clear clue, I'm sure you've noticed." Geralda's answer made me frown even more. Nicholas and I looked at each other with equally puzzled expressions. "You mean about the woman named Victoria who was going to exchange her baby for Alpha Felix's?" I asked for confirmation. Geralda nodded her head. "That's right. There was a baby exchange between Victoria and Alpha Felix. You only caught a glimpse of what happened, I realize you didn't fully understand," Geralda said.

She was my only family. Taking a deep breath, I braced myself. "Promise me you won't scream when I tell you what's going on," I said, my voice barely a whisper. Liv's eyes widened, a mixture of confusion and concern flickering across her face. "What's going on?" I closed my eyes, waiting for a moment before finally speaking, releasing the words if wanted to say to someone since this whole swap started days ago, "I swapped places with Ashton," I confessed. The silence that followed my confession was so thick, a knife wouldn't be able to cut through it. Liv's face slowly turned pale, her eyes wide with shock. She blinked rapidly as if trying to process the information.

What would stop Suit from constantly sending Anderson to a world where he was destined and designed to lose constantly. “Don’t be so dramatic.” As if reading Anderson’s mind, Suit spoke up. “Like I said earlier, the first story was just a test run for you to understand how things work. Things will be different next. Remember, just as your actions and decisions will affect the course of the story, so will the decisions and actions of others affect yours. I’m sure you understand what I mean.” Suit smiled with a knowing smile.

She never asked what kind of family Leonard came from. He even had to lie, claiming he came from a poverty-stricken mountain village. He told her that after making it to college, he struggled through several failed jobs, only to be mugged, stabbed multiple times in the gut, and stripped of every cent he had. At that time, Thea's eyes were full of genuine sympathy. She had believed his flawed lie. Later, whenever Thea got mad at Clara, Leonard would just stand by Thea's side and say a few comforting words.

When Sarah and Leo barged into my office, I was counseling a werewolf with mania. I frowned, signaling my assistant to take the patient to the lounge. "Ella, you forged the diagnosis report!" Sarah slammed a document on my desk. It was the real report with her name on it. "You're just mad I wouldn't donate blood for you, so you're using this dirty trick to get revenge, right?" Her colleagues gasped. Leo looked at me with disappointment. "Ella, I didn't think you'd turn out like this. Do you know how hard Sarah worked for this exchange program? You're ruining her future!"

"You know exactly what we're about to face. But it doesn't matter—we'll be free of his control sooner if we make this money." I smiled quietly, saying nothing. Around us, a few other girls were watching. Axel began his manipulative pitch, telling them the only way to go to Zandumore was through fake marriages. He promised all the husbands would be respectable, high-quality men to reassure everyone.

She sipped on her soup as she hurled insults at me. "You got my son killed and birthed a worthless brat in return! You're not getting any of this soup!" This happened on the day my daughter was born. Had I been reborn? I remembered just moments ago, the child who I'd painstakingly raised had unplugged my oxygen supply and then chatted away with the nanny happily. It was then I'd discovered my child had been swapped shortly after birth. I'd died in agony, filled with betrayal and despair. At present, Doris flung her spoon into the thermal container and slammed it onto the bedside table.

I raise my hands, making my flames bigger while Julie and Austin cower in the corner. "We're not cockroaches. Get away from us with those flames." Julie screams, trying to hide behind her dad. My dad and I move closer. "Shift, and I'll move away. Come on, let me see what you are. I bet you can't do it. Okay, it's time for some barbecued bitch and bitches’ father." I reach for them, and Julie screams. Suddenly, she and Austin shift. My dad and I step back. This was not what I was expecting. We look at each other and burst out laughing. I have to say it's fitting. They're rats.

He plastered on a smile and turned toward the tall man. "Mr. Kraft. I'm Derek Teeger. I've heard a lot about you." Liam Kraft gave a flat "Mm" and walked straight into the conference room without looking at him. Derek coughed awkwardly, scrambling for conversation. "Mr. Kraft, I thought the Kraft Group mainly did mining. Since when are you in the flower business?" Liam stopped in front of me and said, "My wife likes them. Just a little gift to make her happy."
