Humans are naturally weak, compared to werewolves, and surviving a bite from an omega wolf, let alone a high-ranked wolf is nearly close to impossible. The process is cruel, soul breaking... and only a few humans survive. And even then, they end up with weak bodies, and yet, the torture doesn't end there. After feeding on werewolves ' blood, before they fully turn, their system tries to reject it, and that in itself comes with excruciating pain, and it is only a few who survive that stage.
