I side-step towards her and rest my hand on the small of the back. The werewolf is not what I expected. I thought he would be older, but he's just a kid, barely past his first shift. His body is covered in sweat and vampire bites. Wolves are strong and can heal from just about anything, except a vampire bite - they leave lasting scars.

Her expression hardened with understanding, and without hesitation, she squared her shoulders and stepped toward the first corpse—the one with a gaping hole in his torso. My werewolf prowess gave me an edge, a strength, and agility beyond that of a regular human. With a determined look in their eyes, they lunged at me, fists flying. It's the only reason they're at the top of the food chain . They may have strength but not more than werewolves . It's the venom that's the real catch . It goes both ways though . Werewolf bites have venom that is quite lethal against vampires . The drawback is that it's not that effective against other species . In this era though , the 2 dominating species are vampires and werewolves . So maybe the drawback is a bit irrelevant. I was still affected by Alexis's pain. I could almost feel it radiating off of her . I've never felt this uncomfortable with a decision I've made . I know what I did was understandable according to wolf laws . Yet .. all I can feel is how much I've hurt her.
