The spot where he had bitten her this morning was alarmingly reddened and swollen, almost glowing with an angry intensity. He quickly ran to her, scooped her up, and gently placed her on the bed. He touched her forehead, she was burning with a dangerously high fever. He was certain it was the horrific side effects of his bite, a consequence he had foolishly ignored.
