I glanced at the screen and saw an unfamiliar number. “Excuse me for a moment,” I said, stepping out of the room to answer. The voice on the other end was hurried, yet familiar. It was Professor Thorne, an old mentor from my college days—a respected researcher in both human and non-human medicine, and more importantly, a werewolf like me. “Aurora, it's urgent,” his voice sounded tense. “We need your help.” My stomach clenched. "What’s going on, Professor?"

I shivered, even though I was sweating underneath my mother’s cape, which I just couldn’t give up yet. I hunched my shoulders, as I peeked at the towering back gates of the House of Blood that were carved with orbiting planets. My shadows reached out to trace over the carvings, before shying away at the taste of coppery blood magic. Selena was a professor at Oxford and the spires of her college loomed beyond her Tudor mansion. Beside him sat a man I had never met before. “This is Professor Daniel Reed from Northlake University,” Dr. Ford said. “He’s the external reviewer for the joint project. Maya, walk him through your research design.” I looked at the man across the table and lost half a second. Daniel Reed was nothing like Ford. Ford was sharp, severe, and impossible to relax around. Reed was quieter, but his presence was harder to ignore. He wore a dark shirt beneath a clean-cut jacket, his sleeves turned back just enough to reveal long fingers and a spare silver watch. He looked composed in the way some people looked dangerous without trying.

Professor Morsa's face was still quite pale and mentally tired. Professor Morsa is the one who teaches the subject Of Werewolf Magic Analysis. Because they hadn't received new books and modules, Hana, Henry, and Jackson didn't carry any items. Even so, Professor Morsa didn't say a word to them until the end of the session. The poor man was a common Beta and a professor at that, he wasn't up to the status of commander nor Alpha, hence why it was so easy to subdue him. My gaze went back to the one in front of us. I hated that he was choosing to use small trucks like this to try and get to me. It was....weak. Hence why my wolf didn't even bother to give him a second look. He kept asking questions after questions and a few of the students were unable to answer. He looked straight at me and smirked before calling onto me. "White buzz cut.
