Surrounding the table were several antique chairs, their upholstery worn but well-maintained. On one side of the chamber, a massive tapestry hung from the wall. It depicted a majestic werewolf standing tall under a full moon, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly light. Scenes of battles, rituals, and gatherings were woven into the fabric, illustrating the rich history of the werewolf lineage.

Nueva couldn't understand the language; it looked complicated and old, but the hand-drawn pictures drew her in. The pictures were of werewolves. The first couple of pages had drawings of two large wolf's, one black and one red. She could make out the names Saul and Thiago's amongst the foreign written words. The cover was embossed with a symbol that looked like a twisted, enraged claw mark. Nate crossed the room, the ghost sense of Kieran’s touch still tingling on his skin. He stood beside his chair, close enough to feel the warmth coming from him, and peered down at the pages. The script was old, but the images were brutally clear: depictions of wolves, but different. They were monstrously big, their musculature exaggerated and vicious, with four separate, scary sets of fangs in their gaping maws.

Adolph asked, his tone light. “That stained glass mural…” Adolph looked over at it and hummed, “It’s been there since the temple was built.” “What do you think it means?” “I was told that the black wolf is the sword and the white wolf is the shield of the kingdom,” Adolph said. “Though, I’m pretty sure that the window is a depiction of the first conflict werewolves ever had with vampires long ago.” Laurel frowned. She’d never heard the story. Adolph slid closer, directing her gaze around the mural. In the beginning, the moon goddess and the sun god created everything. Werewolves and vampires were created as brother species and once loved equally.

I suddenly felt a big hammer pounding my head, causing me to hold on to the bed frame and close my eyes because of dizziness. A sudden scene crossed my mind. My eyes run water and my vision became blurry still I didn't close my eyes. My eyes remained half-opened until I saw the dark dust that surrounded us slowly disappeared. When it did everyone within the wall was lying on the floor still and scared. It was not easy seeing them since my vision was still a bit blurry, but there was one image I could see clearly, and that was a white large werewolf that appears to be a she-wolf lying on the ground with a knife in its heart, covered in bright red blood. Not even a single try. “What does it say?” I asked, brows furrowing as I rubbed both of my palms to create warmth. The cold had been much cruel today ever since we arrived at the healer’s cabin. I encouraged myself to look at the drawings instead; the art style is pretty much gothic, if not ancient. It wasn’t inked. It was nothing new—but the feeling hit differently every time. Despite my reservations, I'm not sure about getting comfortable in his humble abode but here I was, fascinated with the decor of this place. From the tapestries glued on the upper windows, down to a hallway filled with paintings hung on the walls from left to right. One of the paintings caught my attention. It had a haunting image that could send shivers down the spine of anyone, or possibly a museophobic would be disinterested, given the fact that they never have good taste in art. But I stood there as my fingers caressed the painting. It's a drawing of a werewolf giving its heart to a human girl.
