“But sacrifice without understanding is wasteful. Tonight, I intend to reward your faith… with truth.” That word from his mouth felt like poison. He gestured toward the map. “Tell me, Cardan, what do you see?” I glanced at it. It wasn’t a map of just our territories. It was far broader, continents, oceans, borders that hadn’t existed for centuries. “The map of the world,” I said slowly. He smiled wider. “Precisely. A divided… and weak world. Every species clawing for dominance, every kingdom rotting under pride and politics. Wolves against witches, vampires against humans, fae against the night-born. And for what? Territory? Fear? Bloodlines? Power?”

The map was spread across the makeshift table, really just a flat piece of wood balanced on two large stones, and everyone stood around it, their faces lit by the flickering light of the campfire nearby. Darius was lying on his stomach nearby, flipping through a stack of old maps, though from the bored expression on his face, he might as well have been reading a soup recipe. Luka sat in the armchair opposite Theoden, one leg crossed over the other, nursing a cup of herbal tea. He was reading slowly through a worn, leather-bound journal that looked like it might disintegrate with one wrong breath. “Alright,” Darius said suddenly, holding up one of the maps. “Tell me this isn’t just a drawing of someone’s really confused attempt at a potato.” Selene glanced over. “It’s a depiction of the pre-split territories before the northern collapse.”

It took him only a second to read through it and dismiss the letter in its entirety as he reverted his attention back to the map. I lowered my hand and neared him, wanting to see what had him so engrossed. The map was made of high-quality parchment, with intricate details etched in ink. It's evident that the map was made with great care and attention to detail. The various regions of the Xurian Empire were depicted with different colors, indicating the various territories and provinces. There are mountains, rivers, and forests marked with intricate details, giving the map a lifelike quality. The lines of the map are clear and precise, and the lettering is done in an elegant, flowing script.

When Lunch time passed though I caved and made my way to the large library to ask for a map of the five Kingdoms. Lady Waina was not there to revived my visit. The girls told me that she's been weak lately but they were more than happy to look for the man I needed. She didn’t make it far into that one before she found pages on “the werewolf aristocracy,” “the Alpha lineages,” and a map, yes, a map, detailing territories and pack borders.
