They can feel pain but not easily die. All reapers are souls but between life and death. They don’t die nor grow up like humans and weren’t immortals like other entities are. They are not fragile yet they can die when their souls vanished or destroyed by others. No human thing can harm them but other entities and spirits could. What more gods who gave them this chance to redeem their life? They only have one task, which is to collect Earth's souls and convey them to Nirvana. While protecting their own souls doing this job.
