His dark eyes, usually so serene, were sharp, analytical, watching me intently. He didn’t question, didn’t demand. He simply observed, and a strange calm, a tiny eddy in the internal storm, flowed from his touch.
“She’s reacting to something deeper,” Rhys murmured, his voice low, directed at Xavier, but his gaze remained fixed on me. “Something beyond the mate bond.”
