She would not suddenly act like this. "Eve, come here," Grandpa George called out to her. Eve's father had died in battle when she was young, and her mother had remarried. She had been relying on Grandpa George ever since, so she listened to him. As soon as Grandpa called her, she immediately let go of Nash and walked towards him. However, as she passed by Nina, she suddenly fell to the ground. "Oh dear!" Nina wanted to help, but it was too late. However, she was right there and helped Eve up.

Mr Travis said, standing up from his seat. "But still, this is not an easy thing to do. What if after poisoning him, all the king's maid gets killed?" Eve asked, she was about saying another thing, before her uncle caught her off. "Eve! I never raised you to be a scaredy cat or to be negative about things." Her uncle retorted. "You're a strong and fearless woman, this should not be something you should fright over." He continued. "I'm sorry uncle." Eve said. Moving to where she's standing, he held her face with his palms and said. "After this mission, I will give you what you've always wanted. I will tell you the person turned you into an ophan." He said with a smirk

Pots and dishes shattered into pieces, and chairs and tables were overturned, leaving the place in complete disarray. Mayor Kingsley’s eyes were wide with anger, his voice full of menace. “Frank, you’d better give me an explanation. My son’s death won’t go unanswered!” Dad collapsed to his knees, trembling as he repeatedly bowed, his forehead quickly turning red and swollen. “Mayor Kingsley, it was that wretched Eve who caused all this. She’s already dead. I even fed her body to the pigs. Please, have mercy on me.” Mayor Kingsley sneered. “And you think that’s enough?”

He was about to start the show. Eve was tied with a table. She was still naked. Her body had stopped healing, Adrian had tortured her this much. She had dried blood all over her body. Even a merciless monster would have stopped but Adrian did not stop. He came towards Eve and signalled two vampires. They held Eve's jaws open. He went to her. She was begging him with her eyes to stop but he smiled instead.

* * * Max’s POV * * * I hadn’t expected the words that came out of David’s mouth. Eve’s mother is alive? I can’t help but wonder how and what physical and mental state she will be in. What has Alpha Charles done to her, these past 10 years? My shock is short-lived as Eve gasps and then falls to the side, her body limp and falling from her chair. Instinct has me jumping from my chair, breaking her fall and taking her limp and tiny frame in my arms.
