But I told her anyway. “Ummm.. honestly? Horror.” I said. She looked at me stony faced for a moment before a small smile began to spread across her face. “I think I love you.” She told me. Then she started pulling out stacks of horror movies from her collection.

She beamed. After that, we kicked off our shoes and curled up on the small couch beneath the window. Mia insisted on watching a horror movie, even though we both knew she’d be screaming ten minutes in. She was weird like that. Sweet and jumpy but obsessed with ghosts, monsters, and slasher films like the ones in her books. I never understood it. The screen glowed in the dark room, flickering over her face as she curled her legs beneath her. Half an hour in, she shrieked and buried her head in my shoulder. I didn’t move.

But just like with the changes about the messages, we changed another one again. So, when dinner time came, we had to stop for a moment to prepare for dinner. Good thing that the movie we watched just finished, so we are not badly interrupted at all. After we ate dinner, we then came back on the living room. We laid ourselves on the fort comfortably. "What's that movie anyway?" I asked and looked down on you as you laid your head at the top of my shoulder even though we actually have pillows to lay on. "Scary Holiday. Our favorite." You giggled which caused me to gasp as I diverted my eyes back on the television. It is indeed our favorite. I love that movie!

I suggested after a while of us just sitting there and staring at the black screen in front of us. “Scary movie? Now?” He asked with a frown. “No, tomorrow morning!” I deadpanned. “I really need to get use to this.” He muttered out under his breath but I heard him. “This is the perfect time to watch a scary movie, at night and in a new apartment.” I rummaged through my rack of DVDs and found one of my favorites, The Wolfman. Satisfied, I settled down on the couch beside Alejandro, crossed my legs Indian-styled and pulled the blanket over my legs.

At that point, she was the only one who remained relatively calm and was no longer as hostile toward me as before. I was aware that the death of the three women earlier had left them terrified of me. "I'll take you to your dorm. But remember, once the lights go out, don't leave your beds," I warned them. After all, the night was far scarier than the day in our factory.

He lifted his arm and wrapped it around my shoulders. “You sure you want to watch these?” “Yeah.” I tried to keep my voice light and breezy, but failed miserably. “I usually stick to slasher movies on my annual scare-the-piss-out-of-myself night, but I figured I’d go with some doozies, since I have you to cling to.”

The movie was my ultimate comfort movie and I liked that I could forget my worries by thrusting myself into the life of Elle Woods. And as always, the movie was over. I had polished off the cookies and hot chocolate during the movie but I wasn’t ready to leave yet so I had to figure out something else to watch. Scrolling through the numerous viewing platforms, I decided to go out of my comfort zone and watch Scream. I hated horror movies but I figured Scream wouldn't be so bad. After all, it was satire, right? The movie turned out to be scarier than I anticipated, and by the time the closing credits rolled, I had the blanket almost covering my face whilst cowering in my seat.
