My unease diminished with Lexie’s words, and I assisted her with her shopping bags, bringing everything to her car.
Lexie lived about fifteen minutes outside the city, and her house was in the middle of the woods. The drive back was nice, but I was still a little nervous about the day’s events, especially with how people reacted to me.
Lexie interrupted my thoughts with a curse as we arrived in her driveway, and I noticed a gray BMW sedan parked outside her house. A woman with impeccable hair, wearing sunglasses and a sophisticated power suit, stood by the car, her arms folded across her chest, her mouth slightly twisted in disapproval.
