"Exactly." Thomas laughed. A real laugh. The kind that arrived unexpectedly. The sound surprised him. It had been a long time since anything felt normal. Ava glanced toward him. A small smile appeared on her face. Seeing him laugh seemed to ease something inside her. The moment lasted only seconds. Then the gateway behind them flickered. Everyone turned. The silver light weakened. The edges of the archway cracked. Tiny fractures spreading across its surface. The City of Echoes was finally reaching its end.

Timelines merged, parallel universes colliding. The chamber became a nexus, dimensions intersecting. Echo vanished, reappearing across multiple timelines. "Ruth, stop!" Echo shouted, their voices echoing. Ruth's gaze turned cold. "I won't be controlled." Vincent and Elijah struggled to keep pace. "Ruth, what's happening?" Vincent asked. Ruth's smile grew. "I'm reshaping destiny." Ava's eyes filled with desperation. "Ruth, you'll destroy everything." Echo reappeared, their eyes blazing.

It was more than a goodbye. Leah sat beside him, her fingers gently wrapped around his hand. She didn’t speak. She didn’t need to. She knew what the silence meant. She felt it too. That impossible choice had scarred them both. Maya and Ben joined them, both pale and worn out. They gave the final report. “It’s gone,” Maya said quietly, her voice stripped of emotion. “The Echo is completely destroyed. It’s been fragmented into nothing. There’s no chance of it ever coming back. Not even a single line of code remains.”

Marissa stood where she was, staring as we drove away. A month later, I received a message from Marissa's friend and law partner. Marissa's surgery had failed. She remained unconscious for a while and passed away yesterday. Ruby came upstairs to call me and squeezed my shoulders from behind. "Everyone is here." I said okay. The gathering today was a farewell party for me. I still liked television. If I could not be in front of the camera, I could work behind the scenes. Mr. Miller was preparing a new program and asked whether I was willing to come back and help.

“Nothing.” The lie sounded terrible. Cassian noticed. Immediately. But before he could ask again, Orion suddenly stood up. “The network just emailed us.” Everyone looked at him. Nova groaned. “Please tell me HeartLock finally died.” Orion shook his head. “Not yet.” Nobody liked that answer. At all. Orion looked pale. Actually pale. “They moved the broadcast forward.” The room froze. “What?” Bianca asked. Orion checked his phone again. “The finale starts in thirty minutes.”

I roared. Malachi didn't use a blade. He slammed his palms into the floor. The Blue and the Violet merged, creating a shockwave of "Harmonic Resonance" that tore through the Citadel. It was the "Third Way" I had sensed in the infirmary—not Frost, and not Rot, but Obsidian Balance. The silver blade in Killian’s hand shattered. The Rot in the air evaporated, replaced by a clean, biting wind. Killian was thrown back against the throne, his silver eyes dimming as the conduit was severed.
