I ask in my usual tone but when I catch a glimpse of his eyes chills run down my spine and my blood goes cold. The icy hue of his eyes hold an undeniable allure, like frozen sapphires glistening under a pale moonlight. They seem to possess a magnetic power, drawing others into their depths with an irresistible force. In their cold, intense gaze, I can almost sense a hunger, an insatiable craving that sought to consume and possess me. “Oh my God Lucien!!” I cry out.

My eyes linger upward and I notice that he was staring right down at me. "Are you telling me that I have to mark you just to get into your head?" I ask and he affirms my inquiry with a nod. My eyes then linger back down. "Wow," I mutter. "That seems like a lot. What's in for me when I do that aside from being able to get into your head?"

I hope he isn’t getting sick again. He sat there watching me silently and leaned in closer to me until our foreheads were touching. Now he is super close. “I lost my words because I was completely caught off guard.” I raised an eyebrow. “The way the fire shone on your face and then your eyes shimmered- I completely lost my train of thought… I don’t remember what I was going to say at all.” He paused and the smiled sweetly. “Just like now. I can’t take my eyes off of you. Your eyes hold me hostage.” Hold you hostage… I know how that feels.

My gaze drops because I can’t bear to look into those void-grey eyes any longer. “Why did I bring you here…” he repeats, savoring every word, rolling them on his tongue like they’re something sweet. His grey eyes bore into my amber ones, cutting straight through me. A stray hair falls across my face, and he tucks it behind my ear with a slow, deliberate motion—his gaze following the path of his fingers before locking onto my eyes again.

His gaze dragged down my face, lingering on my mouth before snapping back to my eyes. “Which are you choosing?”

My eyes lingered on the display for a moment longer. For the first time since this trip began… I was actually looking forward to it.
