He raised his eyebrows, looking at my fidgeting hands, proof he didn’t believe me.
I breathed hard, swallowing hard before nodding. “It’s about… It’s about the computer.”
“What about it?” asked Callahan, his eyes on his smartphone. When I didn’t answer, he looked at me again.
“It’s… slow,” I answered, and it was true.
The computer I used in the library was older than the one in the office, but both took time to open a program. There were so many icons on the desktop, and whenever I opened the email HR created for me, pop-up alerts showed on the screen.
