My alarm was going off so I rolled over and turned it off. I heard my mother hollering from down the stairs. "Willow get up. Your going to be late." I pulled the blanket over my head and yawned. I knew I should've went to bed earlier but I was just starting to get into a really good book and I just couldn't put it down. My name is Willow Addison. I am sixteen and starting my junior year in high school. I have always been a bookworm I guess you can say. Not that I didn't have friends but I have just always been into my studies. I kept impecable grades and stayed out of trouble.

The trip into town was uneventful, Reese and Theo having locked down the security in the area after the last breech in the perimeter, and the others had wholeheartedly agreed to come to the dinner, which Willow insisted on making for everyone, when I had reached out to them. Leon stood there in a gray hoodie, hair messy, sleep still clinging to his eyes. “Dude, it’s two in the morning,” he croaked. “You high or just lovesick?” I ignored him. “Willow. She went to Southeast Asia. With Greenpeace. Do you know anything?” His brows furrowed, eyes narrowing. “Willow… wait, where’d she go?” The confusion in his face told me he really didn’t know. Still, the guy was unpredictable. Hard to trust completely. “She joined a team. Left with Greenpeace for Southeast Asia.”

” “Her name is Azeasthrath. Tony told me to tell you that.” Willow stiffened. “Azea?...” He stepped back from the girl. Mercy was her name. She was still looking at him expectantly. “Hey, I’m really sorry, but I have to go...” She just sighed and rearranged her shirt. “Its fine, maybe we can do this some other time...” Willow walked towards her and you he’d her forehead. Forget about me. Her eyes glazed over and her head drooped. When she came to, she would have no recollection of him, or why she was there.

“…yeah.” Willow stares at Aretha again. Long. Uncomfortable. Then she sighs dramatically. “Well that’s disappointing.” Aretha steps forward again. “Say one more word.” Willow lifts her chin. “You’re too old for him.” Aretha lunges. Alexander grabs her instantly. “Whoa!” “Let me go!” “No!” I step between them calmly. And look directly at Willow. “You’re not exactly young yourself.” She frowns slightly. “…I’m two hundred years old, I'm older than you all.”

Willow got out of the car and breathed in the crisp afternoon air. The lodge was beautiful, overlooking the forest and the banks of the Lee River. A pang of sadness came over her, wishing she could have been there with Zoey. Two officers followed from the car, assigned to accompany Willow for the week. One was a woman named Chelsea. She was two years Willow's senior. The other officer's name was Derek. The officers were communicative and put Willow at ease during the drive to Riverlodge.

“Ms. Stewart? What a surprise.” The person who came was the level-1 member who had been following Campian around Northspring. Her name was Willow Steward, and she was a late-stage energy fighter. Willow observed Kayson up and down with her large eyes and mumbled, “Why are you so surprised? Do you not welcome me?” Kayson chuckled. “Of course not. I just didn't expect Captain Wolke to send a level-1 member like you to deliver the things to me.” Willow smacked her lips and said, “A level-1 member is nothing. Didn’t you just kill a vice-captain?”

I take a step forward and prepare to do whatever I need to save Tru. “Halt,” Willow says in a soothing voice, “I will not harm her.” Looking at the hydra she created, she says, “Back away,” in a tone, a mother would use to scold her children. Many of them huff but back away from Tru. I find myself relax a little when I get a clear view of Willow’s vines gently holding Tru. Tru almost appears to be more comfortable now that she has room to stretch. “You are very protective of her. What’s her name?”
