My vision spins, but I push myself back up. I can’t stop now. The beast comes at me again. I close my eyes and dig deep. I feel the power inside me…the light, the fire, the part of me that’s growing stronger every day. I let it rise. My body lifts off the ground again, and this time, wings made of silver flames burst from my back. They shimmer like moonlight. I fly straight at the beast, dodging its claws and slamming a ball of fire into its head. It screams and stumbles, but still doesn’t fall.

Arkalis instructs calmly, his hands behind his back. Christian and I rushed to the drum and filled our buckets. Arkalis helped me in placing mine on my shoulder, while Christian skillfully placed his on his shoulder. I pouted in jealously, I want to be strong. But anyway, I am going to be consoling myself, with the fact that Christian is a guy who turns into a dragon since he became eleven. I wasn't able to hold on to the sticks linked to the buckets on my shoulder for up to ten seconds before it came crashing to the ground again. It felt raw, especially as blood rushed in a telltale flush. "They told me a lot of things. And, I'm going to preface this by saying I thought the dragon thing was a metaphor. I didn't know it was a literal thing." Thane laughed suddenly. "So sirens, sorceresses, chimeras, all valid and real, but you draw the line at water dragons?"

Our bodies still glow and when we explode into flames this time, the purest of dragon fire lights the sky for miles.
